EF-07-090: 90-Inch Telescopic Dump Trailer Kit
The Primary Mover EF-07-090 is a three-stage, single-acting telescopic hoist with a 90-inch stroke, intended for suitable 8–12 ft dump trailer and truck bodies. Choose Hoist Only, the Standard 12V Kit or the Extreme Series 24V twin-motor package.
This is the shortest-stroke model in the current lineup and the remaining three-stage design. Its 20-ton model-family designation is an application category, not a guaranteed material payload. Final selection depends on the complete installation and the model-specific dump chart.
Use the telescopic hoist selector with your moving body length, rear hinge overhang, material weight, moving body weight and desired dump angle. The recommendation is preliminary and requires confirmation against the current installation documentation.

Choose Your Kit
EF-07-090-H — Hoist Only
- 90-inch-stroke, three-stage telescopic cylinder
- H-frame lower mounting bracket
- Two upper mounting brackets
For a build using a compatible customer-supplied hydraulic system. A power unit, hydraulic hoses, fittings and the other components supplied with the powered kits are not included in this option.
EF-07-090-SK — Standard 12V Kit
- All Hoist Only components
- Primary Mover 12V single-motor, single-acting hydraulic power unit with SAE #8 connection
- Hydraulic hose assembly and fittings
- Bridon load-control valve
- Safety arm and cup
- Heavy-duty hinges
- Battery cables
The matched hydraulic package combines powered lifting with gravity lowering. Its SAE #8 connection and internal return-flow design address restrictions in the oil's path back to the reservoir.
EF-07-090-SK-U — Extreme Series 24V Twin-Motor Kit
Includes the Standard Kit's mechanical and hydraulic installation components, with a 24V twin-motor, single-acting power unit replacing the Standard Kit's 12V unit.
The twin-motor package provides increased lifting flow for users who prioritize cycle speed. It requires a properly configured 24V battery and charging system. Additional flow does not increase the cylinder's approved pressure, the kit's charted capacity or the trailer's weight ratings.
Read when to upgrade to a 24V twin-motor hydraulic power unit.
Capacity, Load Position and Dump Angle
The hoist lifts the material plus the complete moving body, including its tailgate, liner and attached equipment. Use the model-specific chart for the actual installation; do not treat the 20-ton category as an allowance for 20 tons of material.
Spread material evenly along and across the body, following the vehicle manufacturer's loading requirements. A heavy pile near the front increases its leverage about the rear hinge and can make the initial lift more demanding. Do not shift material behind the hinge to try to increase dumping capability.
Stay within the trailer's GVWR, each axle's GAWR, tire and wheel ratings, hitch limits and the tow vehicle's applicable ratings. A hoist upgrade does not increase the trailer's permitted payload.
Stroke and mounting geometry determine the achievable dump angle. Read what 20-ton and 30-ton telescopic hoist labels actually mean before selecting your kit.
Three-Stage or Four-Stage?
The EF-07-090 remains a three-stage cylinder. Primary Mover's longer-stroke current models use four-stage designs for a more compact retracted package. Stage count alone does not determine lifting capacity, operating speed or dump angle.
See three-stage vs. four-stage telescopic cylinders for the design comparison and retracted-length examples.
Installation and Operating Requirements
Installation requires qualified assessment of the trailer structure, welding, mounting alignment and reinforcement. Confirm the upper bracket support and gusset requirements in the current instructions. Match hydraulic pressure, flow, reservoir capacity and load-control components to this exact model.
Dump on firm, level ground with personnel clear. Follow the safety arm's stated limitations. Before anyone works beneath a raised body, use the independent supports or restraints required by the installation instructions; do not rely on hydraulic pressure or the supplied safety arm alone.
Find installation manuals and product documentation. The correct model-specific instructions and dump chart govern final selection and installation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the EF-07-090 really dump 20 tons?
The 20-ton label identifies its model family, not a guaranteed payload for an 8–12 ft trailer. Actual capability comes from the installation-specific chart, including body weight, load distribution, geometry and approved operating pressure. The trailer and vehicle ratings may permit substantially less material.
Will this kit fit every 8–12 ft dump body?
No. Body length is a starting point. Verify mounting space, cylinder alignment, rear hinge overhang, structural support, gross lifted weight and desired dump angle. Use the telescopic selector for preliminary guidance.
What dump angle will I get from the 90-inch stroke?
There is no single angle for every installation. The same stroke produces different angles as body length, cylinder mounting points and hinge position change. Check the model-specific dump-angle chart before purchasing or welding mounts.
Can I use my existing pump with the Hoist Only option?
Yes, if the entire hydraulic system is compatible with this cylinder and its operating limits. Confirm pressure, delivered flow, oil volume, return-flow path and load-control components. Too little pressure reduces available force; insufficient flow can make lifting slow.
Does the Extreme Series kit lift more weight than the Standard Kit?
When both operate at the same approved pressure, the twin-motor upgrade is for more lifting flow and shorter cycle time. It does not increase the model's charted capacity, dump angle, structural limits or vehicle ratings.
Does the twin-motor power unit also power the bed down?
No. This is a single-acting system: power-up and gravity-down. Lowering depends on the body's return force and the hydraulic return circuit, including hoses, fittings, valves and flow control. The second motor does not directly accelerate gravity lowering.
What battery system does the SK-U package need?
The Extreme Series power unit requires 24V DC. A common arrangement uses two matched 12V batteries connected in series, with compatible 24V charging. Follow the supplied wiring instructions and battery requirements; a standard 12V charging feed cannot directly charge the complete 24V bank.
Can I work under the bed with just the supplied safety arm?
Do not rely on the supplied safety arm alone for service beneath a raised body. Follow its stated limitations and use the independent supports or restraints required by the current installation instructions.
