How the X-Block System Works

This system allows a single-acting, power-up / gravity-down hydraulic pump to operate a double-acting hydraulic jack.

  • The manual selector valve switches between the dump bed circuit and the jack circuit.
  • The X-Block red valve controls flow direction to extend or retract the jack.

Basic Operation

  1. Turn the selector valve to the jack circuit.
  2. Press UP on your power unit to extend the jack.
  3. Flip the red X-Block valve to the opposite direction.
  4. Press UP again to retract the jack.
  5. Once the jack is retracted, turn the selector valve back to the dump circuit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this work with my single-acting power unit?

Yes. This system is specifically designed for single-acting hydraulic power units, including power-up / gravity-down telescopic dump trailer setups.

It allows you to operate a double-acting hydraulic jack using your existing single-acting system.

I have a telescopic dump bed kit that is power up and gravity down. Will this work?

Yes, absolutely. The X-Block system was designed for single-acting power units so they can operate an additional double-acting circuit, such as a hydraulic jack.

We recommend using jacks with counterbalance valves so the jack has a controlled stroke in both directions.

How does this operate with a single-acting power unit and a double-acting jack?

The manual selector ball valve changes the system from the dump bed circuit to the jack circuit. The X-Block valve, which is the red valve, flips the direction of the fluid from the bottom side of the jack to the top side of the jack.

When you press the UP button on your power unit, the pump runs and extends the jack. When you are ready to retract the jack, turn the red X-Block valve to the opposite direction and press UP again. The jack will then retract.

Once the jack is retracted, turn the manual selector ball valve back to the dump side, and you are ready to use your dump bed again.

Do I need to use this with a jack that has dual counterbalance valves?

It is strongly recommended.

Customers have used the X-Block outside of that setup, but it requires a strong understanding of hydraulics and is not recommended for most users.

For safer and more controlled operation, especially under load, we recommend using double-acting hydraulic jacks with load-holding or counterbalance valves, like Primary Mover hydraulic jacks.

I have a steel tank. Which kit do I need?

Choose the X-Block Steel Tank Kit. This version includes the fitting commonly used for steel tank return ports.
