PF-625: a 12-ton-class HD hydraulic scissor hoist for 16–20 ft dump bodies
The Prime Force PF-625 combines an HD hoist frame with a 6.5-inch-bore hydraulic cylinder, 25-inch stroke and 10 mm cylinder wall. Designed for suitable 16–20 ft dump trailers and dump truck bodies, it is a model to consider when a demanding application calls for the structural robustness of our HD-frame platform.
Choose Hoist Only, a Standard Kit or a Premium Kit. Powered kits offer Primary Mover 12V, KTI 12V with gravity down, or our 24V Twin Engine high-flow power unit for operators who want faster raising cycles from a large-cylinder hoist.
- 12-ton / 24,000 lb nominal hoist class, with installation-dependent lifting capacity.
- HD-frame platform for suitable larger-body and demanding applications.
- 6.5-inch cylinder bore and 25-inch stroke.
- 10 mm / approximately 0.394-inch cylinder wall.
- Typical applications: suitable 16–20 ft dump trailers and dump truck bodies.
- Heavy-duty rear hinges included in Standard and Premium kits.
- Optional Twin Engine upgrade: dual 2.2 kW motors, approximately 6 HP combined, with 24V double-acting operation.
- 36-month limited hoist warranty, with separate one-year power-unit coverage.
Why the HD frame matters
The cylinder creates lifting force, but that force must pass through the hoist frame, pivot supports, mounts, dump body and chassis. Cylinder size alone does not establish whether the complete system suits the job.
The PF-625 uses our HD-frame platform, with reinforced construction and larger structural supports for its intended applications. It is worth evaluating for frequent heavy dumping, a heavy moving body or a longer-body installation that requires a different structural platform from the PF-621-6.
The PF-621-6 and PF-625 share a 12-ton classification, but their frame construction, stroke and mounting geometry differ. The PF-625’s HD frame and 25-inch stroke make it a different model to evaluate—not an interchangeable substitute selected only by tonnage.

Less waiting with the Twin Engine power-unit option
A 6.5-inch-bore cylinder with a 25-inch stroke requires substantial oil volume to extend. At the same pump flow, additional cylinder travel means a longer raising cycle. For operators who dump frequently, improving the hydraulic system’s working flow can reduce time spent waiting.
Our PFP-24TDA15S Twin Engine 24V double-acting power unit uses two 2.2 kW motors—approximately 6 HP combined—and a 15-quart steel reservoir. It delivers over 4 GPM depending on operating pressure, while maintaining usable flow at pressures up to 3,200 PSI.
In a suitable installation, the additional flow can bring raising time close to half that of a comparable single-motor setup. Actual improvement depends on working pressure, electrical supply, hydraulic restrictions, load and installation. Lowering time and the complete unloading cycle may improve by a different amount.
Select the 24VDC Twin Engine 6HP Power Unit option in either the Standard or Premium package. It requires a suitable 24V battery system, correctly sized wiring and compatible charging equipment.

What the 12-ton class means for your build
The 12-ton designation describes the hoist’s nominal capacity class. It is not a truck or trailer payload rating, and it does not mean every installation can dump 24,000 lb of material.
The hoist raises both the moving dump body and its contents. Actual lifting capability depends on body length and weight, material weight and distribution, rear-hinge overhang, mounting geometry, target dump angle and hydraulic pressure.
GVWR means Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. An HD hoist or faster power unit does not increase your vehicle’s GVWR, axle ratings, payload limits or the ratings of its tires, wheels, hinges, hitch and other components.
Account for the completed vehicle’s weight and remain within all applicable vehicle and component ratings. A load that the hoist can raise may still exceed what the truck or trailer can safely carry.
Use the Scissor Hoist Selector to compare your planned installation, then confirm the layout against the capacity chart and installation manual.
Match the 25-inch stroke to your mounting geometry
The PF-625’s cylinder travel works with its complete hoist geometry to provide mounting options for suitable longer dump bodies. Body length, rear-hinge location, rear overhang and hoist placement determine the lifting requirement and achievable angle.
Moving the lifting point farther forward can improve leverage, but the same lifting travel at that location generally produces less body rotation. Use the PF-625’s mounting dimensions and capacity chart to balance lifting capability and dump angle.
For a longer-body application, compare the PF-630 HD using its own dimensions and chart. A longer stroke alone does not guarantee that a model is the best fit.

Actual charging current depends on the charging source, wiring, battery condition and installation.
Explore RoaDCharger configurations and connection details.
Choose your hydraulic power unit
- Primary Mover 12V: Our standard single-motor double-acting power unit with a 2.2 kW / approximately 3 HP motor and a two-button power-up/power-down remote.
- KTI 12V: KTI hydraulic power unit with its matching three-button control for power up, power down and gravity down. This option changes both the power unit and control.
- Twin Engine 24V: PFP-24TDA15S double-acting power unit with two 2.2 kW motors, approximately 6 HP combined, a 15-quart steel reservoir and matching power-up/power-down control.
The Twin Engine unit’s additional pumping capacity improves raising speed. Voltage alone does not make a hydraulic cylinder move faster.
The Twin Engine configuration requires a suitable 24V supply. Two suitable, matched 12V batteries wired in series can provide 24V. Confirm battery capacity, cable sizing, circuit protection and charging compatibility for the complete installation.

Mounting and installation requirements
Check the PF-625 mounting drawing against your chassis, crossmembers, rear-hinge location and available space. Confirm clearance throughout the lift cycle and provide the structural support required by the installation manual.
The HD frame requires a properly supported chassis or subframe, suitable body attachment points and correctly installed hinges and mounts. Reinforced hoist construction does not eliminate the need for reinforcement in the surrounding installation.
Evaluate moving-body weight and material load against the capacity chart for the intended body length, rear overhang and dump angle. Match the hydraulic system to the hoist and load-control components.
Do not exceed applicable system or component pressure limits to compensate for an overloaded or unsuitable installation. A higher-flow power unit does not increase structural ratings or correct unsuitable mounting geometry.
PF-625 questions and answers
Does a 12-ton HD hoist let my trailer carry 12 tons of material?
No. The designation describes the hoist’s nominal capacity class. The moving dump body also contributes to the weight being raised, and the vehicle must remain within its applicable GVWR, axle ratings, payload limits and component ratings.
What is the difference between the PF-621-6 and PF-625?
Both use a 6.5-inch-bore cylinder and carry a 12-ton classification. The PF-621-6 has a 21-inch stroke and standard-frame platform; the PF-625 has a 25-inch stroke and HD-frame platform. Their mounting dimensions and capacity charts must be evaluated separately.
Can the PF-625 be used on a 20-foot dump body?
A 20-foot body is within its typical application range. Confirm the moving-body weight, material load, mounting arrangement, rear overhang and desired dump angle against the model’s capacity chart and installation instructions.
When should I consider the PF-630 instead?
Compare the PF-630 when your body dimensions, intended load or required angle call for its different geometry and 30-inch stroke. Select using the actual installation requirements rather than stroke length or tonnage alone.
Can the Twin Engine unit cut raising time in half?
Raising time can approach half that of a comparable single-motor setup when the Twin Engine unit supplies roughly twice the effective lifting flow. Actual improvement depends on the complete installation. Lowering and total unloading time may improve by different amounts.
What is included with the 24V Twin Engine selection?
The selected Standard or Premium Kit includes the PFP-24TDA15S twin-motor double-acting power unit and matching power-up/power-down control. Premium also adds the 24V RoaDCharger and direct-wire charging connection. Batteries are not included.
Does the Twin Engine option provide gravity down?
This is a double-acting power-up/power-down configuration. Choose the KTI 12V three-button configuration if you want the additional gravity-down control function.
Does Hoist Only include a hydraulic power unit?
No. You supply a compatible hydraulic system. Selecting “Primary” in the power-unit menu does not add a pump to Hoist Only.
What does the Premium Kit add?
Premium adds voltage-matched charging equipment to your selected Standard Kit. The 12V configurations include a RoaDCharger, 7-way harness and 33-watt solar panel. Twin Engine 24V Premium includes a 24V RoaDCharger and direct-wire connection, without a solar panel.
